 Our Natural Protective Wood Finish If you want to extend the life of your Adirondack furniture you will need to seal it before it is exposed to the outdoors. We use and recommend alkyd-oil wood stains because they cure hard, penetrate deep into wood and will not raise wood grain. Remember that what we offer is not a one time process because no finish will last forever; therefore you will need to refinish your Adirondack furniture when it needs it. Messmer's UV PlusŪ We use Messmer'sŪ UV PlusŪ "Natural", a deep penetrating alkyd-oil/urethane exterior transparent wood stain. This high quality product made by Messmer's, a family owned company located in West Jordan, Utah is as good any you will find in the market. The alkyd-oil based UV Plus deeply penetrates to strengthen and condition wood while maintaining a completely natural appearance. Performance Features It provides excellent long lasting water repellency as well as resistance against mildew and algae growth. The high concentrations of transoxide pigments protect wood from damaging UV rays while the concentration of natural oils condition and enhance the wood. Regular use will retard wood warping, shrinking and cracking. How Long Before Another Application Is Needed Expect about 12 to 18 months, how long will depend on the weather, exposure and type of wood. Different woods will vary dramatically in the amount of product they can absorb. Therefore, you will need to apply a new coat of stain when your outdoor furniture visually requires it in order to maintain the protective characteristics of the finish.
