About Our Birdhouses We build our birdhouses from rough cut Red Western Cedar wood using detailed housing requirements that are proven to best attract the 13% percent of the bird population that is drawn to nesting in birdhouses. It sounds as if a bird has a tape measure and checks things out before they move in, but you do not question mother nature and what is proven to be sucessful. Why do we use rough cutRed Western Cedar wood? Studies show that less is often the best policy to attract birds to a house. The more natural looking the house the better. A bird does not understand anything about what is pretty or artistic they only want what is best for them. What do they like? They like a simple wooden house that has a rough textured interior, an exterior left natural or painted a flat earthy tone so it will blend in with the environment, the right size entry hole that will allow easy passage but keep out predators, the right amount of floor space for a nest, good ventilation, good drainage and something that is sturdy. |
